Quiet in the office today - a lot of people took the day off.

It's been an interesting week - every department here has its own party, so I've been dropping in to parties for the last two weeks. They've been fairly impressive, too - people put a lot of effort into cooking. One party last night, for example, had a turkey, a ham, and smocked chicken legs (also, a fondue fountain that kind of exploded, covering everything in a five foot radius in chocolate - I'm not exactly sure what happened there). Another had a red velvet cake which was the crowning glory of a table full of home-baked goodies. There was one that featured mostly soul food, and another with all kinds of interesting spreads with pita and sandwiches and about ten different kinds of cookies. People take their holiday parties seriously around here.

Oh. I guess I should have figured that out. I was hoping for something exotic, like cute little chicken legs decked out in holiday frocks with clever red and green smocking.

...no, I know the guy who made them, and he'd most definitely not the smocking type.

Do we have to make chicken legs with cute little holiday frocks and smocking on them, now?

...Actually, I feel like you could get really creative with that. And as long as we don't have a smoker, anyway...
