I realized this morning that the dinner we're serving the gaming group involves five different kinds of dairy (assuming there's no powdered milk or buttermilk in the bread Chuckro's making, which I'm not sure of). We're having borsht, with sour cream, so that's one. But I also made a brandy Alexander mousse cake (featuring brandy and white chocolate mousse in an Oreo crumb crust), that involves whole milk, heavy cream, mascarpone cheese, and butter. I guess really we should have done a yogurt-based bread, since I'm having trouble coming up with any other forms of dairy that could go in this meal. (Mascarpone can represent the great cheese family for these purposes, I think.)

At least it's not a butter-over?

I just realized that "butter-over" is analogous to "hangover," and therefore my phrasing made no sense. (For some reason I thought it was like a sleepover, but with butter.)

Unfortunately, the bread is a bohemian black bread, so the only dairy in it is butter.

Clearly we did not plan this sufficiently to use the ENTIRE dairy case.

Mascarpone is an excellent representative of the great cheese family. Om nom nom. Also, for the love of all that is holy, try these: http://www.mangotomato.com/2010/03/mascarpone-pancakes-with-raspberries.html Here's hoping you have extra mascarpone.

My new favorite member of the cheese family: burrata. On our way to the Bahamas, we had this crazy appetizer pizza with burrata in Fort Lauderdale, and I JUST bought a container of it from the grocery (apparently Zingerman's makes it now). http://www.saveur.com/article/Kitchen/The-Brilliant-Burrata

Unfortunately, the cake required the entire container. But I'll keep that in mind for next time.
