So I read a lot of books over the course of a year. (I'm thinking I'm going to end up around 125 this year.) I usually post the list of everything I've read, but I don't usually talk much about them except for the occasional OMG-who-published-this-garbage rant. If I started doing capsule reviews as I read stuff, would anybody want to read them? Or would you skip right over them in favor of reading my occasional OMG-coworker-what-were-you-thinking rants or OMG-subconcious-what-the-heck-made-you-dream-that rants?

I'd read them. In particular, I'm on the lookout for good books that my friends enjoyed and that they can explain why they particularly enjoyed them. "Author and publisher, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" reviews can be funny, and if they also explain why you detested the book then they're useful too. My view is that often one person detests a book that another person loves, so for a review to be useful to me, I need to hear about the "why", so I can judge for myself whether I think that factor would be a major influence for me. I wouldn't expect you to write 125 book reviews, so I'd imagine you'd save the effort for your top favorites, and perhaps the occasional hilariously bad one.

Having said that (since you were asking for your friends' opinions), teh fact is I'd read anything you wrote, because I enjoy your writing style.
