You know that point halfway between sleep and awake where you're not unconscious yet, but you can't really control what you're thinking? I'm pretty convinced that my id is the last thing to go to sleep and the first thing to wake up. Because I can be perfectly fine and know that everything's going to be ok despite minor stumbles, but when I get almost all the way asleep suddenly OH NOES WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE BECAUSE WE COULDN'T CHECK IN ONLINE AHEAD OF ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT!!!1!!1!11! I swear I barely slept last night. And then woke up at 5:30am. Seriously, I know conciously that everything is going to be fine. But I can't convince my subconcious of this.

(Besides completely inappropriate terror, half-asleep me is also prone to fits of dazzling, uncontrollable rage. Chuckro continues to survive, despite such incredible crimes such as twitching or breathing a little too loud, solely because while half-asleep me only takes over after the sleep paralysis kicks in. Conscious-me loves my husband and thinks he's terrific. Half-asleep me hates everyone in the whole world with a fiery undying RAGE-FILLED HATE and would cheerfully set everything on fire because of that BUZZING, WHAT IS THAT BUZZING MAKE IT STOP I HATE EVERYONE. Half-asleep me is not very nice, and I'm glad she isn't physically capable of moving.)

But the Bergamot oil will!! -Try it.

(See, the way it works is that bergamot oil is a mild potassium channel blocker that affects certain neurons in the Prefrontal Cortex area of the brain...)

Earl Grey - 2nd. Lord Earl Grey, Leader in Parliament who authored the Reform Bill of 1832 and the British Anti-Slavery Act (the first law out-lawing slavery passed anywhere!) British Prime Minister in the 1830's... who reputedly received a gift, probably a diplomatic perquisite, of tea flavoured with bergamot oil, taken from bergamot, a citrus fruit typical of Southeast Asia and grown commercially in Italy.

According to one legend, a grateful Chinese mandarin whose son was rescued from drowning by one of Lord Grey's men first presented the blend to the Earl in 1803. The tale has no basis in fact, as Lord Grey never set foot in China and the use of bergamot oil to scent tea was then unknown in China.

Jacksons of Piccadilly claim they originated Earl Grey's Tea, Lord Grey having given the recipe to Robert Jackson & Co. partner George Charlton in 1830. According to Jacksons the original recipe has been in constant production and has never left their hands. Theirs has been based on China tea since the beginning.
Twinings has a proprietary branded tea variety called "Lady Grey" made with lemon and Seville orange in addition to bergamot. Twinings' Earl Grey and Lady Grey packaging bears the official endorsement and signature of Richard Grey, 6th Earl Grey.

Snapple produces a tea beverage based on Earl Grey called Earl Gray Black Tea.

Many boutique tea stores sell a similar blend with added rose petals known as French Earl Grey.

A beverage called "London Fog" is a combination of Earl Grey, steamed milk and vanilla syrup.

Australian tea company T2 produces several blends:[11] Earl Grey (traditional Earl Grey tea), Girlie Grey (traditional Earl Grey with botanicals, orange and lemon), Earl Grey Jasmine (traditional Earl Grey blended with Jasmine Green tea), Earl Grey Royale (traditional Earl Grey with cornflowers), and French Earl Grey (A variation on Earl Grey that has bergamot with hisbiscus, sunflower, rose and mallow flower). A "Russian" Earl grey is sold with the ordinary ingredients plus Lemongrass.

Earl Grey tea is used as a flavouring for many types of cakes and confectionery, such as chocolates, as well as savoury sauces. For sauces, the flavour is normally created by adding tea bags to the basic stock, boiling for a few minutes and then discarding the bags. For sweet recipes, loose tea is often added to melted butter and strained after the flavour is infused.

By The Way, tea does Not have Caffeine in it!
It has Theophylline (dimethylxanthine) in trace amounts which is structurally similar to caffeine and has similar but not exact effects. also found in cocoa beans...

Theophylline also relaxes bronchial smooth muscle tissue and is effective in treating asthma and COPD.

Interesting thing about Theophylline is taking it late in the evening reduces the bio-absorption rate significantly.
