Lots of people out this week, very slow day.

I seem to have trouble putting enough liquid in my chicken soup with rice. My (lovely, garlic-sage-and-sherry-scented) soup today was really less soup and more porridge. It was fine when I made it, but the rice just keeps soaking up liquid.

I feel like that's the problem we always have with chicken soup--I've gotten better about the amount of liquid with pasta or matzah balls, but rice is still tricky.

...Did you rinse the rice before adding it? Maybe that would help.

No, I didn't - it was Carolina rice, not sushi rice, so it didn't occur to me. It's a good idea, though.
