Dear mint in the fridge,

Please stop wilting. I need you for mojitos tomorrow. I recut your stems so you can drink your nice water. It worked for the hydrangeas - maybe it will work for you, too. Please drink up and stop wilting, ok?

...mojitos, you say?

Didn't I put that in my email last night? Also highly-experimental lime-mint sorbet.

Don't overdo the mojitos - there's going to be a lot of mint and lime floating around.

The mojitos... they've gone plaid!

Don't say that to former band members. We'll try.

The trick would be getting them to be orange plaid, really. We might need to involve Parkay.

Nooo!

I remember the bit about the sorbet. Clearly that says something about me.

That you correctly believe sorbet is delicious?

There's no reason why they shouldn't have been able to keep when triaged, cleaned, bottoms freshly snipped, and put in a glass of water (like a vase) in the fridge. They're plants, they should be able to survive for awhile like any other cut flower or leaf. I've done this with herbs plenty of times before, with no issues. They were wilting in under two days.

The only reason it wouldn't have worked is if they were already old when we bought them. Which, given our supermarket and its substandard produce, is fairly likely.

Random: I drank an entire Bacardi O-flavored mojito last night to see what would happen. (What is this "tipsiness" of which you speak?) But it wasn't strong enough. It was tasty though--as someone commented, sort of like a Fanta.

Most people don't get drunk off of one flavored malt-beverage, I'm afraid. I usually don't feel anything until drink two or three.

If you liked it, you might want to try a real mojito - I think the Bacardi ones have a faint chemical overtone that a real one shouldn't have.
