Ok, I've given up.

I just joined Facebook.

(Not giving up here, just giving up resisting the inevitable.)

It's ok, everyone eventually gives in. I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

Yep. And I was besieged with Friend invites from folks I knew in high school and elementary school. It's kinda neat, actually. Makes you feel popular.

Yay! I held out for a while, but never regretted it once I joined.

Excellent! Now I can friend you.

I think the trick to facebook is not to get caught up in it. Use it as an address book.

or check everyone's status every five seconds... that works too.

I'm going to try to stay closer to beastin's method, really. Especially since half my coworkers, including my boss' boss, are on Facebook, it turns out.

Little bit scary. What would Miss Manners say, for example, about friending or not friending the department head of another department who you're friendly with but very much subordinate to? (No, I didn't friend the guy.)

just you wait. no. i'm just kidding... really, i am.

I'm mostly doing it to keep in the loop with the people who update Facebook and don't have livejournals. My mom is on Facebook, and she knew about one of my old friends from high school getting divorced before I did.

Oh no! I was telling off my friend that I had brunch with that I will never join Facebook! Your falling into the pit means I won't be able to hold out much longer, surely.

It does make a certain sense of course, but I've been burned by social networking sites before. Damn you, Friendster!
