Greek Easter...or, umm...Passover, or umm...something!

So my mother-in-law decided she wanted to do a big Easter dinner (despite their not celebrating Easter). But scheduling didn't work out. So she decided she'd do a big Greek Easter dinner. Scheduling still didn't work out. So last night we had a Greek Easter/Passover dinner really, really early. Names were debated - we were trying to decide between Greekover, Greastover, and Dessertover. Because it really was about dessert. I mean, there was the turkey and the ham. But there was also the red velvet cake, the Italian cheesecake, the assorted little mousse cakes, the brownies, the homemade mallomars, the Greek butter cookies, the random fruit, the Peeps, the jelly beans...

My poor diet.

But she doesn't like lamb, and didn't want to cook it.

Actually, it was never billed as Easter - that I reserve for those who celebrate that particular holiday. No, this was simply billed as an event to celebrate family and friends and relieve the winter doldrums with good food and fun. We can merely call it a good time.
