Things weren't so good this summer. My dad was getting a runaround about whether he would get a new job he very much wanted. My mom was increasingly anxious about the move that would be associated with the job, if he got it. My brother was in limbo waiting for a flight school slot. Chuckro's dad's company looked like they might be laying off people. A couple of our friends were unemployed or in bad relationships, and were distressed most of the times I talked to them. Chuckro and I were being slowly driven nuts by wedding planning. And I was safely employed, but hated my job, which was making me miserable and anxious.
Now I'm looking around. My dad likes his new job. My mom loves her new house. It's looking like my brother has his slot. Chuckro's dad has a new job he also likes. Friends have acquired steady work and grad school admittance and freed themselves from people who were bad for them. The wedding is safely over, it was great, and we don't ever have to worry about it again. And I have a new job that is so far making me happy, and has the potential at least for me to love.
It's shaping up to be a good Christmas.
