We made peppermint ice cream with crushed candy canes. It turned a surprising, but delightful, pink, and was absolutely delicious. I failed at the chocolate tempering, but the peppermint bark was still tasty and went well with the ice cream.

Now I'm thinking about trying eggnog ice cream...

Peppermint ice cream is one of the greatest joys in life.

(I have it listed as a Livejournal interest, so you know I'm serious about this.)

It may be worth your time to invest in an ice cream maker, especially since I know you like to cook. This took barely 45 minutes, start to finish, and half of that was just waiting for the machine to do its thing. And Jethrien's right, it came out delicious. We had barely any left.

Wasn't your ice cream maker a wedding gift? :)

Hint recieved, loud and clear.

Hahaha :) I wasn't trying to hint at anything :) I was just thinking that someone (not necessarily you, of course, just SOMEONE) might get us one for our wedding...so while I agree that it's definitely worth it to invest in one, I may not want to do so quite yet. ;)

Well, we figured that out once it happened. We just hadn't expected it at all.

Loooooove peppermint ice cream. I once made some out of vanilla ice cream and candy canes (and mint syrup) because I was desperate for it. http://tigermelp.livejournal.com/259011.html
