Since Chuckro doesn't seem inclined to post - the boys took him to Medieval Times for his bachelor party. And got him knighted. We have a picture and a certificate designating him Lord Charles.

Meanwhile, I had some friends over for movies. The Philadelphia Story and Ong-Bak: Thai Warrior. First Tony Jaa movie I've seen. Among other things, he sets his legs on fire and then crushes a guy's head between his thighs. No wires, no stunt doubles. Most of the movie consisted of us alternating between saying "What? What's going on? This plot makes no sense" and "HOLY SHIT, HOW DID HE DO THAT? DID YOU SEE THAT? OH MY GOD, HE'S ON FIRE!!!"

It was cool.

You know what rocks? Not being at work today. That rocks.

How delightfully geeky. Sir Charles.

You have Columbus Day off? Lucky you! That's not an official holiday where I work.

You're lucky you had off, durn it all.

And I'm glad the movie got a rise out of all the girls. I'll have to sit down and do the same (what I saw freaked me out already, with him throwing his body folded forward through hoops. The actual martial arts would probably kill me with WOW). Sorry I couldn't be there!

Hoops made of barbed wire!

Yes! And after he clocked that guy in the throat with his thigh, I was sure nothing else could look quite so surreal. I was clearly wrong.

Ha! Michael and I just watched Ong Bak last week, coincidentally enough. We were like, "why did they happen to be holding a loop of barbed wire??"
Michael found the plot terribly dissatisfying. Pretty cool stunts, though. Although after watching an incredible home-made video of some Russian guys doing even more amazing flip-stunts over/off buildings and the like on YouTube, it wasn't quite as impressive seeing Ong Bak as it might've been.
