Was everything we could possibly have wanted it to be.

We LOVED it. It was so (intentionally) cheesy and ridiculous, with plot holes you could drive a Buick through. Samuel L. Jackson looked like he was on the verge of laughing at the stereoyping, stilted "Well, citizen..." dialogue, and rampant cliches. I would recommend the flick without hesitation beacuse it is perfect mindless summer entertainment. Dopey and totally without pretentions.

I'm usually pretty good at playing "Guess the Mom", but I'll admit being baffled on this one. Whose mom is this?

Well, the Carrie V reference should clue you in to the first anonymous, but as for the second one, really, do you think your mom would choose to add another image of fear and loathing to the already terrifying, but necessary prospect of air travel?

The Carrie V was indeed enough for the first reference. But I couldn't figure out whether the second was a different speaker or not.

I hadn't factored in the airplane fear thing, though. I'm pretty sure that you don't need to worry about snakes on crack slithering up through the toilets on your next flight, honest.

Happy Surprise loves all things high-brow: theatre (esp. Shakespeare, Shaw, Fringe Festivals, the Public in the Park); foreign flicks with subtitles; Merchant-Ivory epics drawn from EM Forster; obscure novels, especially translated from Pashto and Urdu; and really high quality bittersweet chocolate.

And astonishingly, she LOVES cheesy movies. Let's hear it for "Plan Nine from Outer Space." (and who can forget "Klatuu Biranu Nicto"? A must-know to prepare for Gor's reappearance on Earth again.)
