We're in and out and in and out of in-person school with quarantines and snow days. And the endless disruption of every routine on a near-daily basis is not great for any of us. And freaking Canvas was NOT designed for second grade (I have multiple colleagues who have worked in ed tech for decades and all of us are at our breaking points trying to figure out our kids' assignments). We apparently studied the wrong spelling list. AGAIN.

It has been a difficult couple days.

OMG. How do the teachers deal with technological mistakes like that? I'm assuming they don't punish the kid for it.

They're not punishing the kids, and they've been totally willing to give him spelling tests separately a few days later when we've made mistakes. But it's stressful and distressing, and contributing to the family sense of "everything is out of control." The teachers are trying very hard, but they've obviously never tried to adapt Montessori to distance learning before (news flash, this is a very physical, personalized, hands-on curriculum, and it's NOT adapting gracefully). And it's like, the way the spelling lists upload is really confusing as to which thing is due when. And in theory, ARR SHOULD have known that he'd already had a test on those words. But his brain doesn't really work that way. And honestly, Chuckro should have remembered that he'd already done the pretest on those words, but we're both already trying to hold so much in our heads, we couldn't remember, either.

And yeah, holy shit is Montessori intensely not adaptable to remote learning.
