- The conference was a smash success.
- The days leading up to the conference were a total nightmare, including a bout of sobbing in a hotel shower at midnight.
- The parts of the conference I personally contributed to...I felt were a very mixed bag and I was both not particularly proud of most of them and very upset at the amount of time I was forced to spend on them rather than working on parts that had a more significant impact.
- I got to actually do a bunch of client interviews, which I adored, but will require our video editing team to actually focus on my stuff to turn into anything, and that's been a problem in the past.
- The freshly retired CIO of a VERY big company you have definitely heard of thinks I'm amazing.
- At the end of this very successful conference, our CEO was so delighted that without warning us ahead of time, he just announced that we're doing it again next year.
- I then proceeded to have a panic attack (quietly repressed) during the self-congratulatory company debrief, and then a sobbing fit in the hotel room of the head of corporate marketing (not my boss, parallel to my boss).
- I started getting a sore throat towards the tail end of this. I only got through the flight home because a coworker has status on United and had handfuls of drink tickets he needed to use. I got a whiskey and dumped it in hot tea. It helped with the sore throat, although not the ears.
- I landed...and discovered that my keys had never come with me. Chuckro and ARR were in Farmingdale. They had to leave Farmingdale to come back and let me in.
- I then proceeded to get the flu, in the most vicious bout of illness I've had in at least five years. I had a fever for five days straight. Over 102 for a while. Spent days delirious in bed. It's eight days later and I still feel like shit.
- ARR got it and was out on Thursday and Friday. He's still sick. We had to reschedule his birthday party. I'm trying to reschedule his in-class celebration because he's not going in tomorrow, either.
- 2020 pretty much straight up sucks so far.
