My mom was here this past week, since ARR had spring break. It was really nice to have some time with her, and ARR adored having his Grammy to play with. The more properly adoring adults he has at his beck and call, the happier he is.
My dad came up as well on Friday. Yesterday, we went out to the Crayola Experience. ARR had a blast. Lots of crafts, giant indoor playground, little show about how crayons are made. He was surprisingly patient for the various crafts that involved melting crayons into other things--I was surprised. He was freaked out by the giant playground until he realized he could drag me in. (Announced at lunch when asked if he liked it: "The first time I was really really scared.") He didn't melt down or anything, just came out and wouldn't go back. Dragging me around, he did that thing where he doesn't actually smile, he just stares intensely with his eyes really round, that indicates that he's very, very interested but not at all comfortable. Since some of his favorite memories occur in this state, I gently kept him moving, which he seemed to appreciate. A bunch of the other activities were a little more laid back.
He got the full grandparent experience this weekend, since we went out to Chuckro's parents' today for his dad's birthday. I left them there, actually--ARR doesn't have school tomorrow either and Chuckro took off, but I have work. So I have the house to myself tonight, and they'll come back late tomorrow evening. It's very weird having the empty house.
