A sad year. A year with 45 fewer books read than 2013. Partially because of going back to work full time and a commute with less train time. Partially because of a lack of middle-of-the-night feedings. (Seriously, for a while the librarians were teasing me about the number of books I kept hauling out.)
In previous years, I've gone and formatted these properly. This year, I'm tired and I've got pneumonia and you're just going to have to deal. Sorry.

Hey, no 1's! Maybe I'm getting better at picking books.
The Best (in no particular order):
Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, 5
Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger, 5
The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan, 5
The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon, 5
Feed by M.T. Anderson, 5
The Jennifer Morgue by Charles Stross, 5
The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, 5
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, 5
To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis, 5
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie, 5
I realize this is a ridiculous thing to say when I read over 90 books this year, but one of my resolutions this year is to be pickier about what I read. There is a joy to shredding things I hated, I'll admit. But it's not worth the time it takes to read them. I've got a backlog of stuff I'm interested in, I should focus more on working that down a bit.

Interestingly enough, no history or pop science this year. Mostly because those require more time to select in the library, and since I always have ARR with me, I don't really have time to browse much. I tend to get stuff by authors I know or the occasional biography chosen by subject alone. It's kind of a drive-by book choosing.
Unfortunately, I've also discovered that the books that ARR picks for me tend not to be very good. We're going to have to work on his taste.
Finally, 56 had male authors and 41 had female. (Some had multiple authors.) Which isn't a perfect split, but is respectable.
In previous years, I've gone and formatted these properly. This year, I'm tired and I've got pneumonia and you're just going to have to deal. Sorry.
