Title:Tell Me Lies
Author: Jennifer Crusie
Genre: Contemporary romance
Thingummies: 2.5

Synopsis: Maddie's husband is cheating on her. But it gets worse than that, and fast--there's the incredibly gossipy town, the pushy mom, the nosy daughter, something seriously wrong with the family business...and the one-night stand from high school come nosing around again.

Thoughts: I'd expected better from Crusie, really. While the characters are endearing and the love scenes reasonably hot, the dialogue lacks some of her usual crackle. The kid is fun, but acting way too mature for her age. But the worst offense is one that Crusie usually avoids--far too much of the plot happens because people refuse to talk to each other for really stupid reasons. When your plot depends on your main characters being dumb, I start wanting to throw the book against the wall. I still enjoyed chunks, but it could have been so much better with a little more sense and a few relatively minor edits.
