- Things are moving reasonably well on the house front. We had a couple hiccups that have resolved themselves.

Hiccup 1: The relocation company. The sellers' relocation company is kind of a pain in the butt (and it looks like the sellers think so, too.) They took a surprisingly long time to get all the paperwork to us.

Hiccup 2: Our lawyer broke up with us. We'd gotten a lawyer for the last attempt, and went back to him for this one. He didn't return our calls for a couple of days, though, and then abruptly told us he wasn't taking on any new business involving relocation companies. So apparently we and the sellers are not the only people to think they're pains in the butt. Anyway, a call to our buyers' agent, and she found us a new lawyer within two hours, who took a call on a Saturday and had all our paperwork lined up first thing Monday morning.

So. We are now officially out of attorney review and under contract! Hurray! Inspection is next Thursday morning. That should be the last big hurdle--while there are theoretically things that could fall through between now and close, if we clear inspections, most of the remaining hurdles should be relatively minor. (Title insurance, etc. The previous owner before the sellers was himself a real estate agent, so I'm pretty sure title research should not find anything surprising.) Right now, our attorney is predicting a close in May, and we'd be planning to move probably in June depending on how long it takes to make some minor changes. (Screens on the front windows, latches and gates for babyproofing, etc.)

Fingers crossed.

- Baby continues to be cute, doing cute baby things. Rather less baby and more toddler, at this point. He's been walking for months, and will now rearrange furniture so he can climb onto things. He can use but is disdainful of his sippy cup, which we should probably work on. Can use a spoon badly, prefers to alternate spoon and free hand for grabbing cereal (messy). Has a small handful of words--we're sure of "Mama" and "up", and may include as many as "Dada", "Grandma" (Gamma), "bottle" (ba), "blue", and "done". Why blue is important, I have no idea, but apparently he spent a chunk of afternoon the other day pointing out blue things.

Continues to be sick, a lot. We've spent the better part of the week with happy mornings and 102 fever afternoons. Last week was ok. The week before was a fever, the week before that was roseola. Between snow, sickness, and doctor visits, still have not had a week where all three of us went to work/daycare for all five full days in a single week. Oy. Also, endless rounds of fever have played havoc with sleep training. Full nights of sleep still very rare.

ARR continues to have a mad love affair with shoes, both his and other people's. Shoes are awesome. The only thing better than shoes is putting on your shoes so you can go outside and go up and down the steps some more.
