Maybe. A very tiny castle. A Victorian. We'll just call the porch battlements and the gingerbread crenellations. And there's a deck--that's like a pirate ship!
So exciting!! I love Victorians! (Also, sorry for the extremely late posting--I've been very behind in catching up with lj, due to the ridiculous business of this semester.)
Let's see if we can get out of attorney review and clear an inspection, first. As I said, there's a lot of places left for this whole thing to fall through.
Ooh, house! Are the inspections clear yet? We just had another spurt of house-buying enthusiasm last week. Actually went and got pre-qualified and was poised to ask for pre-approval, looked at five houses, and then lost interest again. Those things are stupid expensive around here. :( On the other hand, there's nothing like looking at houses for making us appreciate our current apartment. :)
May! Gosh. I guess things are very different in more sane parts of the world, where you don't have to submit an offer for 100K more than the asking price, the day after the open house, with no contingencies (neither financial nor inspection-related) in order to buy a house.
We actually only had to go $5k over the ask, at least. But that doesn't mean it was cheap, just that the ask was appropriate. And while we waived the appraisal, we still get an inspection.
But it still was a five way bidding war (which we won partially because we weren't contingent on selling the place we're in now), and they made a decision 8 days after going on the market.

Seriously, after Sandy, I don't want a moat. I've had water to my doorstep, thankyouverymuch, and I don't care to repeat the experience.
