Flying colors

ARR's ear surgery seems to have gone smashingly well. We were really worried because he wasn't allowed to eat beforehand (and you can't explain to a one-year-old why they're getting no breakfast). But he woke up happy, stayed mostly calm in the car, and enjoyed exploring the doctor's office. Didn't want his blood pressure taken, but calmed right down again. Did not like the mask for the anesthesia, but he went right down. Surgery went fine. They cleared out all the fluid and pus while they were in there. He gets ear drops, but he doesn't have to take any more of the horrible oral antibiotic (think Elmer's glue mixed with sand, only worse-tasting). They usually wake up screaming--he was sleepy but smiley sat quietly in my lap for a bit playing with his bottle. Ate some Cheerios, charmed all the nurses, was quiet and sleepy all the way home.

Now he's happily running around the apartment. And has figured out how to climb onto the couch all by himself.

Oh good. Ear infections are the worst.
