Spring is the best thing ever.

I went for a run in the park yesterday. There was sunshine and warmth and daffodils and small children flying kites. How does it get better than this?

Oh, yeah, being in better shape so the last block doesn't make me want to die.

You went running. Oh dear, you're one of those.

I'm not very good at it. Does that make it better?

Just promise me you don't do it very often and/or that you don't enjoy it. Don't be that "Ooh, but you get that endorphin rush!" person. We'll all love you, but you make the out-of-shape among us madly jealous.

I don't think I usually go long enough to get the endorphin rush, honestly.

I usually get some form of vigorous exercise about once a week. (Otherwise, I start getting lethargic and depressive and my pants stop fitting.) I'd rather get it outside. Jogging involves more of a sense of accomplishment than exercise videos, plus vitamin D and a chance to look at flowers. However, I am a wimp and will not run in the cold or the rain (unless it's a really warm rain - that's kinda fun). So I haven't been running much since fall.

I enjoy the first ten minutes a lot. I enjoy the rest of the day fifteen minutes after I've stopped even more. That period between is much less fun, and usually involves a violent argument in my head over whether it's ok to stop now or not. And then once I have stopped, an argument over whether it's ok to collapse in a ball and die. (OK, it's usually not that bad. Yesterday I kind of pushed myself farther than it turns out my body was willing to go, and my cardiovascular system wasn't totally pleased with me.)

I see, I see. Only I work with a fitness convert from a lazy ass like myself and he's evangelizing, so I'm all like "I'm going to get fat and not exercise to spite this person!" But not really.

I hear you on the exercise making you feel better for the rest of the day bit. I should really try a little here and there.

Oh well, you're too cute and loveable to be scornful of for exercising. We all have our quirks. I like rainbows, for example.

(and if you get that reference, all is forgiven forever!)

...I don't get the reference. I am not forgiven! Woe!

I am a evangelizer for exercise helping with mood and lethargy. I've found that my mind works a lot more healthily when my body's also healthy. And I would much rather see people exercise than go on scary weird diets to lose weight. But if you're happy, then it's your body and your life and I'm not going to bug you about it.

Now you're taking the moral high road, too. Damn it, how can I be mad with you!!! ANd yeah, you're right, exercise does put you in a good mindset (if you survive it). I look forward to swimming a lot in Hawaii.

(It was from Rocko's Modern Life, but I'm one of two people I know who care, so that's a-okay)

So we don't agree with TS Eliot that April is the cruelest month? (He was a strange guy anyway.)

I find spring so exciting- all that soft new green, tender purple buds poking through the grey remnants of mulch. And all my beautiful polyester tulips dancing gaily in the breeze.

I bought 6 bags of manure today during lunch time and left them in my car until 8:00 PM. FINALLY got rid of the balsamic vinegar smell...

No, no, now it's cold again. April remains cruel.

Wow, I haven't thought about Rocko's Modern Life in forever.

Have fun in Hawaii. I loved snorkeling there - so many pretty fish!
