ARR has toys already. He's got a stuffed doggie and a duck and a rabbit; he has board books and chewy books; he has teething rings and yankable mobiles and a monkey rattle.

He has little to no interest in any of these things.

What is my son's absolute favorite toy at the moment?

His burp cloths.

You can grab them! And wave them around! And cautiously lick them and stuff as much of them as possible into your mouth and cover your entire head with them and then poke at them from underneath!

Burp cloths are awesome!

His name is ARR and he approves this message.

what is a busy book?

ARR sounds like Po. She has several toys, and what does she keep going for? BSD's socks.

Busy books are usually fabric books where your kid can play with things on the pages. Like, tie a shoelace on a shoe, put items on strings in pockets and such. At least, that's what my family's busy books were.

Something like this: http://www.mybusybook.com/

It's a cloth book that has different activities on each page. So one page might have the front of a shirt with real buttons that you can button and unbutton. Another might have a shoe that you can lace and tie. Or different felt shapes with Velcro that you match to the same shape and stick the purple triangle piece to the purple triangle in the book. It's for developing fine motor skills and also keeping small people occupied for blessed minutes at a time.
