Earned my good karma points for the day. Just gave blood at the office blood drive. They had these great stretchy bandages that they used instead of tape - I'm in love. Usually, the tape pulls out all my arm hair, and then leaves a black sticky residue for the next three days, no matter how much I scrub. This thing sticks only to itself, and is stretchy. I even got to pick the color (I got blue).

Why do I feel like I don't want to get my father started on this topic? He goes to a specific blood center for the cookie selection, I'd imagine he's got a whole diatribe about the stretchy stuff versus tape.

Back in the dark ages, we got cute T shirts everytime ("are you my type" with a vampire was one), and a nice spread of snax. Additionally, you could designate any member of your family to be supplied with free blood for a year. I had an uncle who had open heart surgery, and I designated him. Now I don't even eat the lousy Chips Ahoy they try to pass off as food, and my relatives and I get no break if we need blood. Ah, well. I guess now it truly is just out of the goodness of our hearts. I just gave my 71st pint.

Man, am I getting robbed going and taking whatever they give me...No more oreos for me! I want Entemann's original recipe chocolate chip cookies, darn you!

You got oreos? I got weird cardboardy shortbread things. I also could have had my choice of crunchy dry cinnamon raisin cookies or pretzels.

In addition to Lorna Dunes and Oreos, the LI Blood Center also has Cheez-Its, raisins, Quaker Granola Bars, trail mix, and Chips Ahoys. If you luck and are there on a day when the fudge man donates, there's fresh fudge. Also, the bagel man brings his wares when he donates... and even the Krispy Kreme staff has shown up with extra goodies!
You should book a donation when you visit your future in-laws.

The blood center out on Long Island apparently has Lorna Dunes. My father loves Lorna Dunes.

And they come in convenient four-packs that fit nicely in your glove compartment (or they would, if you had a car). These "Travel Doones" are a handy snack on a long car-trip and could prevent you from becoming one with the Donner Party if your family is ever trapped on a snowy mountain road.

Given my soon-to-be family, I wouldn't have to be trapped on a snowy mountain road. I could get stuck in traffic on the Jersey Turnpike and the sugar levels might dip low enough that certain people might decide I qualify as food.

No, your father goes to the specific blood center because it is the one nearest home. He donates blood and platelets because it is a great excuse for eating cookies for breakfast! (Of course, you must give blood in the morning to use this excuse.)
As for the stretchy bandages, the NY Blood Center has been using them years. No sticky tape to pull the hair off your arms! And the Blood Center folks try to do color coordination to what you are wearing. On holidays, they do festive colors: Red and green for Christmas, orange and black for Halloween, green for St. Patrick's Day, red for Valentine's Day, etc.
