Well, there was the one where I had to get ready for a senior portrait and so I had to go take a shower in the office of the HR guy at work, only the bathroom was full of people getting ready for writing workshop auditions, which was really awkward. And there was the one where my brother died in a terrorist attack on a submarine, which I mercifully don't remember most of the details to.

But the winner for last night's most vividly horrifying dream featured Smidgen being born, only he was tiny. He could fit in the palm of my hand. I tried to breastfeed him, but he bit me and we realized he'd been born with all of his teeth. We had friends over to meet him, and his hair was growing in as we watched, dark red and all over his body. We kept trying to hold him supportively, but he kept squirming around, mewling, and then he scrambled up Chuckro's arm and I had to pull him off by his tail, which is when I realized I had just given birth to an oversized gerbil. A nasty, ill-tempered one at that.

I had a dream some time ago that was remarkably similar in certain details—I had given birth to a baby boy (and was flipping out because I desperately needed help with it and everyone around me was too busy doing other things—Andy was playing with his iPhone, my sister was having one of her old high school homework meltdowns and my mom was trying to calm her down), and then I looked down and saw that the baby was covered in orange fur. And then I realized that I was trying to nurse my cat.

Is there something about babies covered in fur? Is that a thing?

I do not know, but that's a disturbing thought.
