There were some requests for photos of how my birthday cake went together.

There are three seperate tiers. The bottom is three layers. Two layers are stacked normally. The third is cut on a diagonal, and then turned so both high sides are on top of each other.

The next tier is two layers. The bottom layer is actually sunk into the top layer of the bottom tier, so that the bottom of Tier2Bottom is actually level.

Then the second Tier 2 layer is split diagonally and piled the other way.

The same is repeated for the last tier and the whole thing is frosted.

Note that the top layer here is actually a hat.

Cutting the cake reveals the patchwork of pieces inside.

Delicious! Also, kinda ridiculous.

Mmm, structurally unusual cake. I always wondered how those topsy-turvy cakes were built.
