I saw a taping of The Colbert Report last night with [livejournal.com profile] ivy03, [livejournal.com profile] mithras03, and [livejournal.com profile] airspaniel. It was awesome. That poor man is a consummate professional. He was obviously sick as a dog (every time the cameras were off, he was blowing his nose and then they were powdering him up again to cover the red), but you couldn't tell when he was on. He also learned an important lesson about how a guy should wear a cup if he wants to try to ride a coin-operated horsey ride while filling a musket with powder and ringing a bell. (Thank you, Sarah Palin, for inspiring that particular reenactment of Paul Revere's ride.) And the guy just kept going, right on through the completely trippy interview with Werner Herzog, until he got on the horse again (for the closing credits). I was really, really impressed.

They aired that whole interview. It's funny how everything seemed so much longer in person.

I couldn't stay up to watch it, but I'm looking forward to seeing if it's just as surreal as it was in person. 0_o

I'm pretty sure he kept his game face on until the cameras went off during the horse-riding sequence. It wasn't until the feed went dark that he winced.
