My mother-in-law got cheap tickets to Rain last night. Only, it turned out, the tickets weren't actually for last night, they were for next week. Oops. So, she decided since she was already in the city to grab tickets to How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on TKTS.
So that made for a slightly confusing beginning to the evening, especially because the play we were actually seeing started at 7 while the play I thought we were seeing started at 8. But I certainly can't say I'm sorry. How to Succeed was fabulous. Fluffy, hammy, entertaining spectacle with impressive sets and fantastic costumes. (Oh, I want Hetty's orange dress so badly. Also, the lilac one on one of the dancers.)
It's a play that makes sexual harassment, nepotism, and naked greed look like so much fun.
Oh, and Daniel Radcliffe? Really is that short. More than a head shorter that pretty much the entire male chorus. It really made a lot of the big dance numbers hilarious, and the choreographer really took advantage of it.
