As most Princetonians have figured out by now, the Tigers totally choked this weekend. And we were there for that last-minute floundering. Bleh. No bonfire for us.
Despite the build up and let down, we had a really good time anyway - the day was a classic gorgeous fall afternoon, the people were fun, the halftime show well received. And we had dinner with an old friend from high school after the game that was quite pleasant (despite only mediocre sushi).
Yesterday, I found a new best-way-to-spend-$25. Oh, Chocolate Show. You are fabulous and amazing and filled me so full of chocolate that I could hardly move. And port. Chocolate and port.
New York, it turns out, hosts an annual Chocolate Show. There's a fashion show and a bunch of cooking lectures attached, but the real reason to go is the trade show. And the booths. With the vendors. And the free samples. Oh god, the free samples.
I thought the $25 seemed a little steep for an entrance fee. It wasn't. I probably ate about $50 worth of chocolate. And wine. And chocolate-wine truffles. (And brownies, and cookies, and more truffles, and pastries, and tea, and drinking chocolate, and truffles, and nuts, and did I mention the truffles?)
I was surprised by the number of wine vendors (three or four at least). But really, what goes better with truffles than a good dessert wine or port? We actually ended up buying a bottle of black muscat. So good...
I don't want to think about the number of calories consumed yesterday...
