A note to self: do not submit stories while tired. It's considered rather bad form to tell one magazine that you're submitting to an entirely different magazine in your cover letter. Cut and paste is not your friend.
God, we've all done that. I can't tell you how many cover letters I sent then noticed typos. I'd just have to convince myself that the person getting it would totally not notice and then go to the next one.
FWIW, I choose not to look too closely at the cover letters I may have sent on one of the application deadline nights. There was much cutting and pasting, that's all I'll say.
