I love Halloween.

We had a smashing party on Saturday. I'm rather proud of my pumpkin - I carved Death and the Death of Rats (from Terry Pratchett's Discworld, of course). And then made the pieces of pumpkin into pumpkin cupcakes.

We had a bunch of people over, and held a costume contest. Said contest was won by Teenage-Angst Man and his sidekick Goth Girl. (Whose costumes consisted of black clothing, of course. TA Man had a Superman-style T on his chest made of duct tape and a cape made entirely of blown up angsty pictures taken by his teenage sister of her friends being angsty. Hand across forehead, scraggly hair in front of face, beautiful young people in the agony of despair at the mundane tragedy of life. Goth girl had the black lipstick going, too. And they had bad poetry journals and a real cd from the Rec Ex entitled "Teen Angst". I mean, c'mon, how could we not give them the prize? They had a real cd in theme and everything!)

Chuck and I went as Constantine and Zatanna. People who actually figured out who we were got major kudos.

We also bought so much candy it was disgusting. We encountered a major problem - when you're a little kid, Halloween means four or five pieces of every kind of candy ever made. So it's not Halloween without Reeces' Peanut Butter Cups. And Mounds. And Nerds. And Twizzlers, and Baby Ruths, and SweetTarts, and Peppermint Patties, and Butterfingers, and, and, and... So we're in the candy aisle at the supermarket, and we keep seeing candy we can't live without. We ended up buying OMG SO MUCH CANDY WTF?!?. (This was officially the name of the candy bowl.) Let me put it this way - I own this huuuuge red bowl. We totally filled it. A third of the candy was still in the bowls.

I brought candy to work today.

In other news, the Wildcats managed to land themselves a gig they didn't have enough people to sing at. (They decided not to go on tour this fall, and so a lot of people went home.) So they ended up begging the alums to come be ringers.

It was actually a lot of fun. A bunch of us piled in cars, got stuck in a huge traffic jam, and finally made it down there. We sounded surprisingly good. It was this big Mech-E conference thing and they were having a reception at the Art Museum. Apparently we blew them away - they gave us a startling amount of money for a fee, and then added a huge tip on top. I don't remember ever getting tipped before.

Chuckro and I are going to the Greenwich Village Halloween parade to play with the band tonight. Hope to see some people there!

Sorry I couldn't make it... I was home, as I probably mentioned.

However, I did get to celebrate my first "Princeton Halloween" on Thursday, as it's the first time I haven't had an exam on Friday. I went as a rather convincing Marilyn Monroe, to the point that some of my friends didn't recognize me. Hehe.
