Most excellent birthday weekend

There was cake. (Absolutely critical.) And wine, and friends, and pretty much a full day of doing nothing but playing video games and reading. A very good birthday.

I hope to always look forward to my birthday, even as it increasingly becomes a reminder that I'm no longer in the ingenue-range and in fact am mortal, if only because there is cake. And cake is always worth getting excited about.

I agree. Cake is an excellent reason to anticipate birthdays. (Well, that and the whole marking another year of wisdom and experience thing...)

In college, I think I remember you telling the story of a guy who kept getting married just for the wedding cakes.

It was a lovely and excellent birthday, with a rather fun but not intrusive party game and fantastic food. (Cake obviously included.) Thanks for the wonderful time!
