Snow day

I'm working from home today. It is awesome. I've gotten so much done--both work during work hours and some personal chores during lunch.

I do seem to have overdone my abs workout this morning. Abs are not particularly happy with me right now. (I was rather delighted, however, to be able to help Chuckro carry our new microwave home. Chuckro is a manly man full of manly strength, but only an idiot turns down an offer to switch off while carrying a heavy, expensive new appliance down an icy sidewalk. My arms have not been entirely happy with me for the last couple days, but I could do it, which I don't think I could have said last year. So yay for practical applications!)

I had a similar thought last night while carrying a 25lb bag of cat food up from the garage.

Some days, like today, I really wish I could work from home. I know there's plenty of chances for me to get distracted, or to wind up in pajamas for the rest of my life, but sometimes I just really really wish I could work on my comfy couch in the basement while it's snowing.

If I did this more often, I suspect I would end up cleaning crumbs out of the little gap between the stove and the counter. For four hours. But today, the novelty has been enough to keep me motivated. (That, and the shred of guilt of knowing I could have gotten in. I got in two weeks ago after the monster blizzard, because I hadn't brought my laptop home over Christmas. I feel like I need to justify my staying home with mountains of productivity today.)

Heh, I have no idea if my house would be much much cleaner, or much much messier if I worked from home. I think it would depend on what i had on the docket that week. ;-)
