The wind is whipping around our building so hard that it's creating a pressure differential that's causing an inside closet door to sway.

I walked down to Water Street at lunch--40 mph winds are fun! At first I thought I should have brought an umbrella, and then realized that it was a good thing I didn't.

I saw one crumple like tinfoil this morning. This is what goretex is made for.

My building is swaying. It's shaped like a wedding cake. It shouldn't sway.

Please keep tabs on the windows--this is certainly fierce enough for them to leak, even after the patching.

Our window at work was leaking like a sieve when I got in this morning. This "can't fix it, it's a structural problem" BS has got to stop...

They had to do some major work on the outside of our building a floor above us last year to patch the leaks.

I once had my bedroom door slam because of that. Bennington is FREAKISHLY windy sometimes. 60mph today...

Apparently a table was blown off our 11th floor balcony and it smacked into another building. That could have been a horrible accident/lawsuit if anyone had been hurt there or down below.

Unless you're feeling the pressure differential yourself (pressures that cause doors to move are perceptible), this may be a case of resonance driving from the *sound*. The howl of the wind has several harmonics, and it only takes one reasonably close to the frequency of your closet door.

In this specific case, I was pretty sure it was a pressure differential. It was tangible. We've always had some problems with leaky windows, which is why the bedroom windows get stuffed with handtowels in the winter and we have insulating curtains.
