Well, the squash was obviously a no-go. I was kind of proud of the fish, despite the fact I wasn't super enthusiastic about it. I've been trying to teach myself to like fish, and bought some frozen whiting that turned out to be a lot fishier than I'm willing to tolerate at this point. I managed to finish off the last in a vaguely tolerable fashion by lemon-bombing it--there was the overkill combination of lemon butter, lemon pepper, and slices of lemon. After soaking the filets in milk for twenty minutes. Still nowhere near as good as, say, tuna or bass, but significantly less fishy.

But the triumph was my lemon-rosemary bread with chestnuts and raisins. Even before I started the fish, the entire house smelled of lemon zest. Oh, this bread is so good. I love homemade bread.

Those are two very different things. This guy doesn't sound very good at his job.

He doesn't speak English, and he went for the fish in the front of the case instead of the fish in the back. "Salmon" and "cod" are not the same, though, and I just...sigh.

Fortunately, I was thinking about doing the potato cod, so it's not the end of the world, but the panko-crusted honey-chipotle salmon looked so good...

panko-crusted honey-chipotle salmon

...I wonder if the supermarket has any decent salmon today. I was going to do a stir-fry, but that'll keep and now I'm all intrigued.

It looked divine.

I have panko, and I have chipotles, and I have honey. And there's a frozen salmon fillet in my freezer. I may have this dish yet, just not pre-breaded and seasoned.

I'll encourage this idea.
