Took a quick walk in the park. Felt virtuous for getting a little bit of exercise. I keep passing people with personal trainers doing calisthenics, though, and I can't help but wonder--who has the time and money for that? I mean, they're clearly out there for awhile, plus time to shower. And I've seen them at random times, too, not just lunch time. Granted, clearly I'm able to get out of the office for twenty minutes to take a walk, but that's entirely dependent on how my day is going. I certainly couldn't schedule a personal trainer. It's almost all women, usually blond, too. Rich guys' wives?

I stepped in gum, and then gravel. Ended up with a quarter inch of little stones and sticks glued to my foot. I've managed to get most of it off with a paper towel, but now there's the distinct odor of artificial spearmint.

OK, there's no doubt that these people are rich. The question is, are they rich people taking time off from jobs to exercise, or are they rich people who really have nothing better to do all day? I mean, I can fool myself into believing that the joggers and such are people who work nights or something. They might be actors or chefs or some other job that starts in the late afternoon. But not the people who can afford personal trainers.

Some chefs can definitely afford personal trainers. A lot of them probably are not working, but it is definitely possible to have a job where you can carve a couple of hours out of your schedule a few times a week. My programming job was like that--there might have been rare occasions when I would have had to cancel for some reason, but in general the schedule was very flexible.
