Baking buddy

ARR is starting to be very helpful in the kitchen. He decided for some reason that we really needed to make carrot cake, and there was no particularly reason not to, so there's a carrot cake in the oven. He helped peel the carrots, he put them all through the shredder, he cracked the eggs and dumped all the ingredients in the bowl, he decided what mix ins we needed, he preheated the over, and he even scraped all the batter into the pan. I think this is the first time where baking with him did not double the amount of work--he followed directions very well and didn't make a huge mess. (A little mess, but some mess is always expected.) Have to admit, I really love teaching him to bake.

The main branch of the library reopened last week after over a year of renovations. We spent a solid two hours reading yesterday.
