Falling behind
Jul. 25th, 2016 07:59 pmMy writing production has been way up (novel is humming along nicely), but that means I haven't been spending much time on bloggy/social media things. Which is probably better for my overall mental health, but I sometimes feel weirdly guilty over.
We took ARR down to the shore this weekend for my dad's 60th birthday. (And also the birthday of my mom and several other assorted relatives.) ARR had a lovely time--he adores the beach, and his cousin is starting to become fun to play with. (The boys are almost exactly a year apart.) There was quite a lot of jumping in waves and digging big holes, and plenty of relatives to be an audience. He did a nice job of being on good behavior and generally listening. He even was very patient on the drive down, which took roughly 2.5 longer than it should have. Of course, we paid for it--when we got home, he was exhausted despite a car nap, and was a whiny mess for the rest of the evening. We put him to bed early and he fell right over.
Highlights included watching a fisherman catch (and laboriously release) a sting ray that probably weighed almost as much as ARR, seeing a beach cleaner truck, and teaching his cousin how to do a backward role. Shockingly, no TVs were broken in that escapade, although it was a close thing.
Meanwhile, I'm a bit backed up on book reviews, although not as much as it would seem. I've been mostly working my way through the Hugo pile this past month. Debating whether to throw in the novellas as well.
