Fourth with a toddler
Jul. 4th, 2015 04:40 pmJC has put together a fabulous little fair down at the Statue of Liberty, leading up to the fireworks tonight. Two stages (one for adult bands, one for kids' bands), a dozen food trucks, a bunch of tents with more vendors, facepainting, kids' activities, and rides. ARR and I just came back. We rode everything he was eligible for, which was most of it. I think we rode the trackless train a solid half-dozen times--we rode in every car. And ARR rode his first Ferris Wheel. Then he passed out in his stroller for the walk home.
Meanwhile, Chuckro is smoking meat. And there's a blueberry pie.
We have no flags at the moment--we actually do have a flag holder on the house, but you actually have to climb out on the roof to get to it and any flag would completely be engulfed in the tree in front. So that's not happening. I spent the last couple days trying to find a few small flags to stick in the garden, but no one in the neighborhood seems to be selling them. It's all full size or nothing. Which seems weird in an urban environment, but oh well. I'll keep my eyes open for next year.
