Helpfulness

ARR wants to go outside. I don't want to go outside--we're both still in our pjs and Daddy's still asleep.

ARR just put my flipflops on my feet, put his fedora on his head, and put his stuffed monkey in a bucket for safe carrying. He's now standing at the front door. Clearly, we are ready to go outside.

In all the frantic packing and unpacking, and weddings and weddings and weddings, haven't had a lot of posting time for awhile. Behind on the book reviews, too.

Big things:

- Lovely wedding last weekend in the Catskills in a remote resort with no cell phones and only one road out. And a series of "Former site of [Town Name]" signs on the way up. And a chunk of the road missing. And a creepy shack with a lot of creepy tarp and a single wine glass. And a mysterious stone cairn. And a third floor you weren't allowed to go up to with bars on the windows. And yet no one ended up bloodily murdered. Confusing.

- Hope chest and porch furniture purchased. Still need sofas and new desk chair.

- Chuckro did something that destroyed his back and he's barely been able to walk. I've had to leave work two hours early to pick ARR up the last couple days. Routine is in shambles.

- Successful bridal shower, bachelorette party, and bachelor party for two different weddings.

- Hired new minion. He plays Magic and went to Tisch. And is very excited. It's his first job. I feel a little old.

Random small stuff:

- My front flower bed won't stay watered--it dries out way too fast and a couple of the plants are doing very poorly. I got some of the water retention crystals. They look like rock salt. You mix them into the soil and they absorb water and slowly release it. I thought they'd swell to maybe three or four times their original size. Try like 100x original size. I came out the next morning and it looked like someone had jumped an ice chest on the flowerbed. The ground was completely covered with what looked like ice cubes of gelatin. Covering them with peat moss only kind of helped. Flowers are still wilting.

- ARR knows all the notes to the Alphabet song, and demands that you sing it with him. "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep" are also acceptable. I'm still not sure if he can tell the difference, or maybe if he thinks they're different verses of the same song.

- Aforementioned wedding had bubbles instead of rice. Many people abandoned their little bottles of bubbles. We grabbed a whole bunch of them off the ground and seats after people left. ARR is ecstatic. So many bubbles. "Bub-buh? Bub-buh?"

- Another very popular thing--apples. Or any round fruit, all of which are "app-hul". "App-hul? App-hul?"

- Monkey gets a lot of kisses. Complete with "mwah" noise. Mommy doesn't get kisses, though, unless they're blown.
