Notes from the slightly-above-ground
Jun. 30th, 2014 08:14 pm- Chuckro accidentally bought horseradish-flavored hummus. I'm finding the flavor strangely compelling.
- It was a big wedding-related weekend. A bridal shower and a bachelor party (for two unrelated weddings), both of which were surprises and both of which seemed to go very well.
- We are not the craziest people. Some old friends stopped by yesterday as they moved from Florida to Boston. Where they will both be starting grad programs. With their three-month old. Oh, and they just bought another investment house and rented it out. Like two weeks ago. (Said investment house is not in Boston.)
- We're continuing to settle into the new place. Some wall art has been hung. We still need furniture, both outdoors and indoors. And there's still a small hole in the kitchen wall that needs to be patched, and paint that needs to be touched up, and hanging planters that need flowers, and a dozen other things. But we're getting there, slowly. I think unpacking is kind of like painting, in that the first three quarters of the volume takes the first quarter of the time, and the last quarter of the volume takes three quarters of the time.
- ARR loves the big kids' splashpad but is freaked out by the little kids' splashpad. I think part of the problem is that the little kids' splashpad is actually too irregular. If he sticks to the edges of the big kids' pad, there are actually smaller fountains that are predictable, whereas the little kids' pad has a medium sized fountain that is unpredictable.
- ARR is helpful. He gets the rough idea behind sweeping, and is trying to help. Unfortunately, the broom is two and a half times his height. Maybe I need to get him his own little broom...
