I'm bored. I can't do any of my monthly reports until other people get me their data, and they can't because our servicing company in London is having technical difficulties. So I'm trying to make up assignments for myself to do. Right now I'm working on a list of definitions of technical terms as used by my company for the new hire handbook we're putting together.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] chuckro seems to have acquired a nasty sinus infection. I'm doing my best to nurse him. He seems less miserable than the last few days, so maybe the antibiotics are kicking in.

And in the totally random, last night on the way home, I missed getting crapped on by a pigeon by about two inches.

If you want to get in with the bosses, you could always go around and ask people if they need anything photocopied. I used to do that as an intern. And it gives an excuse to sit and read a book. Cause you're working - look! Work! Babysitting the copier is work! And people always love you if they don't have to copy stuff.

Not that I'm a brown-noser or anything.

Actually, I don't think we photocopy anything. We don't even have a photocopier in our New York office - you'd have to beg to borrow one belonging to one of the other companies on our floor.

No photocopier!? How do you LIVE??

...it's all electronic.

Seriously. We have practically no paper in the office.

We didn't have one when I was at MedAbiliti--on the very odd chance we needed multiple copies of something, we printed multiple copies. Such is often the way with small (and young) companies.

Yes, but MedAbiliti is not a good yardstick. It was inept at many things.

Darn work computer logged me out.

Well, this is true. But seriously - all of our work is done off of the company servers, everything we do is electronic, and most of our clients are international. (I don't think any of them are in New York.) We have a nearly paperless office.

Tell Chuck I hope he feels better!
Y'know, before my recent bout with what probably wasn't actually a sinus infection but that prompted me to read all about sinus infections, when someone said 'I have a sinus infection,' I thought all it meant was that they had some resperatory ailment that clogged their sinuses. I had no clue it actually meant something more like 'I have terrible complications resulting from a cold gone bad that is causing me terrible misery and if we were in an age without antibiotics, could cause my nasal passages to FESTER AND DIE.' I hope I didn't cause anyone distress back then by being totally underwhelmed. :) There ought to be better terms describing the severity of a cold. When I say 'I have a cold,' that could mean 'I have a runny nose,' and it could mean 'I have a nasty, evil viral infection that makes me feel like I'm about to die.'
Hm. I sure hope he didn't get his cold from me. The timing seems a bit suspicious, I must say. Sinus infections aren't really infectious, but colds sure are. At the point when I saw you guys I was trying to convince myself that I was done with the 'cold' part and onto the 'just a residual cough, non-communicable' part, but in retrospect that was almost certainly not the case. Anyhow, I'm real sorry if I gave him a nasty cold. :P

Well, you might have given me a cold, but much more likely it was the usual case of it lying in wait for me to relax following heavy stress (I heard about the CFA exam on Tuesday; I was supposed to hear last week). And at no point in this did I feel like I was about to die. It's actually been remarkably mild.

And we're not sure if it's a sinus infection, for that matter. It actually started with a sore throat, which I thought might be strep, and the response to antibiotics over the last day and a half seems to support that. I actually haven't really been that congested and only had a sinus headache for a couple of hours last night--and they virtually always accompany sinus infections.

In any case, I doin't think this was your fault. And even if it was, I won't hold it against you.

I love you Chuck.

Recover quickly, young one.

Your princess,

Melody
