So, fairly eventful weekend. Short version - visited Chuck, took dance lessons, newbie arch.

We (the Wildcats) took our newbie out for dinner Friday evening (after everyone woke up again). A lot of fun, actually. We should do that more often - but we say that every semester and never do. Ah well.

Anyway, I came home from that and managed to miss the train by about five minutes, so I ended up getting to Jersey City rather late. Spent most of the train ride doing accounting homework. Totally fascinating. I'm glad I didn't fall asleep and miss my stop.

Saturday was nice. Well, once we got started. I managed to screw up my sleep schedule that I woke up at 6 am and couldn't fall back asleep. Then Chuck woke up at 8 or so, and I was tired again and went back to bed and slept until 9:30ish. So we took turns sitting at the computer while the other slept. Later, Chuck and I went window shopping in New York and wandered the city and stopped by Barnes and Nobles. We rented movies and he cooked me dinner. Rather overelaborate, actually - he'd already made a chocolate and peanut butter frosted cake, and he kept me watching the movie in the living room for an hour while he refused to let me in the kitchen. Turns out he was peeling shrimp and grating fresh parmesan the entire time. So we had an elaborate pasta dish with shrimp and veggies and an alfredo-y sauce, and then cake with homemade whipped cream. Apparently he was going to home-make the pasta, too, but the trial run proved how very ludicrously time-consuming homemade pasta is.

Spent most of today doing more accounting before coming back to Princeton.

But then more excitement ensued. I'm taking dancing lessons with the ballroom dance club. Tonight was the first lesson. We were doing waltz and rhumba. It was a lot of fun, actually. Some of my partners were really good - one was a horrible klutz and I felt kind of bad for him. Learned a left and right turn for the waltz and a simple turn and something I think was called "the New Yorker" for the rhumba, besides the basic steps. I had a really good time, but right now my ankles are killing me.

Ran right from that to the newbie archsing. We have our newbies dress up, thinking it's an elaborate theme arch, and we wear all black. We did the pirate theme again - we did it last fall, and I think it's my favorite. Miriam turned up in black and orange striped stockings, a white shirt tied in the front and a black lacy bra, red kerchief and sash, and a sword some guy made for her out of tinfoil. It was priceless. Hopefully someone will post pictures on the website. Anyway, she declared that she hated us all forever a bunch of times, but she seemed to have fun.

And now it's back to the accounting. Damn accounting.
