I just spent the last two hours at the band picnic, talking to alums and sewing plaid on jackets. It's a band tradition that we sew a bit of band plaid somewhere on the class beer jacket. We did chevrons on the edges of the front pockets. They look really spiffy. The only problem, of course, is that you can't wear your jacket while sewing. And it is quite cold and rainy out. I was sitting under the pavilion, but it was still in the open air and the stones leeched heat from my butt. My hands are just starting to warm up now, having been inside for ten minutes, and my butt feels all icy.

I wish so much it would get warm again.

Went to the 'Tones party last night. One of the other a cappella groups, the 'Tones hold fairly elaborate parties for the a cappella community on a fairly regular basis. Well, the freshmen (whose job it was to organize these things) went all out for this one. They declared it was a beach party and told us all to come in beachwear. The 'Cats showed up in bathing suit tops and board shorts and shell jewelry and sunglasses and such. We were definitely the most dressed up there (we have a bit of a reputation for doing more elaborate costumes than anyone else), and in my ever-so-humble opinion, looked the best overall. Anyway, though, we get to their room...and it's covered in sand. They'd covered the entire floor in tarp, and then buried it in sand hand-carried from the volleyball court, about 4 inches deep. The edges were all decorated in inflatable palm trees and life preservers and tiki lights. It was amazing. I have no idea how they're going to clean it all up again. They'll be vacuuming out sand for the next six months. But it was a heck of a party.

Jess Will would be proud.

*snarf*! That's fantastic! Classic college idiotic party-throwing. It's almost up there with my Dad's Dartmouth classmates flooding the basement of his dorm, opening all the windows and creating an ice-skating rink.... And then paying thousands of dollars in damage.
