Ooh, pretty

We got a new ammonite at the museum (think fossilized snail shell). They're usually shell-sized, maybe handsized, maybe a really large one as big as your head. The rare ones are a bit iridescent - people make jewelry out of them, like amber.

Ours is over two feet in diameter, it looks like. And fantastically iridescent - there's a full rainbow, all the way from red through purple. It's so dazzling it's almost gaudy. This thing is just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I actually thought it was some kind of metallic painted pottery from across the room.

Shiny!

Ooh! Wherewherewhere? I will make an effort to see it when it goes on display if it hasn't already!

Under the canoe. It's in the recent acquisitions section, with its own shiny case and everything. It's really, really obvious when you walk into the room.

I will have to divert through the museum soon to see it. I loves me some fossils! Especially the pretty ones. Because I'm totally shallow like that.

Haha, I read the first eight words of that post like three times, and each time I thought, "Damn, you spelled anemone way wrong, yo." Sometimes my brain decides to play Halo 3 with my liver and spleen instead of actually work for me.

Long day, as you can probably guess.

Hey, even brains deserve some gaming time.
