lyriendel didn't particularly care about the tea sommelier at afternoon tea at the Park Plaza Hotel, but I thought it was really cool. She guided us through five different teas over the course of the meal - a white tea, a green tea, a custom Grey blend, a breakfast blend, and some kind of South American herbal tea made of tree bark. The Swan Grey was my favorite - I like the bergamot, and they had vanilla and lavender as well. There was also a green tea-infused white port which was very intriguing. By the end, though, I felt like I was going to float away. Perhaps a little too much liquid and caffeine at one sitting.
The karaoke placekatertoticus found was awesome. Like our favorite one that used to be in the Village, with all the good points (big selection, private rooms) and none of the bad ones (rat in the bathroom). Clean, brand new equipment, and a super friendly staff. It was nice to be able to introduce friends to a happier, less scary version of karaoke than the kind where you sing maybe one or two songs over the course of an evening while listening to awful strangers. Yay!
And dim sum is also awesome.
Must remember next time, though, that no matter how full we are from brunch, we need to get food to bring on the bus. By the time we managed to get back home and into a restaurant, we were both irritable and vaguely incoherent from exhaustion and hunger. I wish Boston was two or three hours closer.
