It really did start as a nice weekend. Went for a run. We spent a couple hours set-building for a theater group that's based a couple blocks from us. Went to Chuckro's parents' house for dinner for his dad's birthday.

And then last night, Chuckro started to feel nauseated. And a little chilled. And rapidly progressed to being miserably, violently ill. And this in a man who pretty much never throws up. (He nearly doubled the number of times he's vomited in his entire life last night.) By 1 am, he was curled on the couch, under three blankets, and still shaking with chills. And scrambling for the bathroom every 45 minutes or so. All. Freaking. Night.

Couldn't move him - left him on the couch and slept on the other couch in the living room. He definitely hit the turning point around 4 or 5, when he stopped throwing up all the time and the chills died down some. He's a lot better now - just a little cold, and hasn't thrown up in a good twelve hours or so. We managed to get him back home after we were sure he was stable enough to get on a train. But his digestive system's still a mess, and he's pretty weak. The fact that the only food he's eaten in about 36 hours that's still in his body is a little bit of matzoh and some juice probably has a lot to do with that. We're working on slowly rehydrating him, and I'm sure he'll be just fine in a day or two, but it's still probably going to be a miserable evening.

Haven't been able to figure out whether it was a virus or food poisoning, but I've been with him for days and eaten almost the exact same things and I'm fine. Fortunately, the treatment's about the same for both.

I'm pretty tired. I think I've gotten about six hours of sleep, all on his parents' couch and never for more than an hour continuous stretch. But he's feeling much better, and that's the important thing. Scared me a bit there.

I'm going to go get some more medicine and some ginger ale and start some chicken broth now.

In sickness and in health.

Yikes. I'm glad the worst is over. I've been there, and it makes a load of difference when you have someone to take care of you. I wish him a speedy recovery and I hope you both get some rest--especially you, before you make yourself sick too.

I'll be fine. I slept some on the train, and I'll go to bed early tonight - I doubt he'll object. I'll wake him up in a few minutes and make him eat some soup. It'll be good to get some calories in him.
