Go, Jethrien, go!

Wow, I can multitask like nobody's business.

I'm discovering that this job mostly involves not being able to have two thoughts in a row. I was filling out payment requisitions when someone came by to ask me to move the boxes in the front walkway, which couldn't be done until I found the purchase order, only I got interrupted to help find an airline record, only I got interrupted to discover the location of an order of suction cups, which turned out to be in one of the boxes, which were too heavy to lift, so I ended up pushing them through the cubicle maze. This involved waving my butt in the air as I pushed boxes on the ground. I got up a fair amount of speed, actually. It was kind of like playing a video game, only I ended up lightheaded, which doesn't usually happen with video games.

Still haven't finished the payment requisitions, though.

Whee!

In other news, we broke open the cheese spread and crackers and beef log from one of the gift baskets. Tasty, tasty trans fats and nitrates.

You Go, Girl! Happiness can be found in successfully accomplishing a hundred trivial tasks. I do it all the time at work, and find it quite satisfying. Not as satisfying as free cheese and crackers, but then, you have both!

Free cheese, crackers, and beef log. (Not to mention the Godiva and Ghiardelli chocolates, and the cookies, and the cheese straws, and the dried fruit, and the nuts, and the more random stuff, like the mustard and olives and smoked salmon.)

When I get a package that's too heavy for me to lift (but not too heavy to kick), I play soccer with it until I get to my door and hope none of the other residents see me. It's kind of fun.

These were way too heavy to kick. I tried pushing it with my foot - didn't work. I had brace myself against the box and build up some momentum.

Sweetie--there are these marvelous things called hand trucks, that have wheels and are designed for moving heavy things. There are also amazng creatures called coworkers who can be called into service when one person cannot life something.

Not to mention, there's probably a union official out there somewhere having an apoplexy that you moved boxes without the help of (or payment to) union labor.

I thought they were only good for orking cows?

It's great if you can successfully multitask, but be careful about making that your job description over an extended period of time. That's been my job, and I've gotten all right at multitasking, but at the expense of my attention sp--- ooh, shiny!

That is my job description. The main thing everyone asked in the interviews was how organized I am.

The coworkers were helping. There were something like 15 boxes over the course of the day.

Shh, don't tell the union.
