The tears weren't even work-related - I was upset about parenting issues when I got on the call and someone asked how I was holding up, and I just fell apart.
Hugs. Not like I can help with the parenting from all the way over here, but one or both of us are always happy to listen/talk/problemsolve/commiserate... etc, as needed.
I'll bet it's pretty common, across the board, for people to fall apart like that due to everything else going on (for a variety of reasons).
My acting teacher opened our final one-on-one session with "First of all, how are you doing?" and BAM! Instant tears. Totally acceptable in acting class, but I definitely feel you here.
My team's considering it pretty acceptable for us, too. I'm at least the third member of my team who's done this, that I'm aware of...this is just the world we live in now. Business calls may involve screaming toddlers, cat butts, and unexpected crying.
