We've known we were planning to go down to the beach with my family this past weekend for more than a month. We were completely convinced we had rented a car. Friday morning, I realized the Avis paperwork on the desk was actually from a rental from June, and we had done no such thing. At that point, cars could not be rented here for love or money - the best I could do was $348 if I trekked into the Village.
So instead I ended up taking a Lyft to Hackensack, where I rented from Hertz for $81. So even with the Lyft ride, still cheaper than the Village, I guess.
All worked out ok, but it did meant I spent two hours more on the road this weekend than anticipated. There are just too many damn logistics.
