Independence Day

I really struggle with Fourth of July these days. I'm not particularly proud to be an American at the moment. ARR and I are wearing red shirts (white shorts for me, blue for him). But I didn't put the flags out. Instead, I just dumped a bunch of money into the ACLU's hands and the Fight Fair bail fund. I miss belting out patriotic songs, and I resent that I feel like the assholes have somehow made flying a flag feel like a declaration of intolerance.

So yeah.

I felt much the same way. :( And it made me suspicious of anyone else who *was* flying flags, etc. Which I feel like is even worse. :(
